What To Bring With You To The First Meeting With The Attorney
1. All your bills - a list is ok, but we would rather have the statements so we can get addresses and account numbers.
Bring ALL bills, not just the ones you want to "put in bankruptcy." We need to know about your mortgage, your car payments, EVERYTHING!
2. Your last 2 years tax returns. Also, if you owe back taxes please let the attorney know.
3. Your pay stubs for the last 6 months, and information on all of your income from all sources - wages, unemployment, social security, disability, worker's compensation, food stamps, child support, rental income - everything!
4. Information concerning all of your assets. If you are married, even if you plan to "file only in your name" we nevertheless must have information concerning your spouse - income, expenses, assets, and debts. If you are separated, do the best you can.
5. Although children are welcome here, and although we will do our best to give you the time and attention you deserve when you are in the lawyer's office, you may want to consider child care because your financial affairs deserve your full and undivided attention. Even the "best-behaved" young children have difficulty sitting still in an office for an hour's appointment.
6. If you don't have all the information, "come on in anyway." In many cases we can help you get the information you need, or get started on your case while you get the items missing.
THANK YOU!!
