The Law Offices of Johnson & Vasquez, P.C. represent individual and business clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas, El Paso Division.

Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 is a federal law designed to help individuals, married people and single-owner businesses repay their debts with dignity and peace of mind. For the unincorporated business, it is reorganization similar to that available to larger companies in Chapter 11. Since Chapter 13 is a rehabilitation, Chapter 13 stops collection efforts, creditors' charges, repossessions, foreclosures, and protects equity and savings in almost all cases.

Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 is a federal bankruptcy law enacted by Congress to give individuals, married couples, or businesses in financial difficulty a fresh start. Chapter 7 is a straight, liquidation bankruptcy that allows individual debtors to discharge (and not pay) most debts, keep many or most assets and then start over. In exchange, the debtor surrenders the remainder or non-exempt assets, if any, to be liquidated for the benefit of creditors. For corporations, all assets are liquidated with the process of providing for the orderly winding up of the business.
